Purim, our Family Seders and the Chanukah party are annual events for the entire family — children and adults.
Gan HaLev —the Jewish Congregation of the San Geronimo Valley— first came together in early 1992. This will be the seventeenth year that we are celebrating the High Holidays in the Valley. We welcome you to join us as we join in prayer and celebration to welcome the Jewish New year 5769.
This year's services will be led by Rabbi Daniel B. Kohn. We use the On Wings of Awe Makhzor, supplemented by readings, singing, and teachings by community participants.
Our services encourage active and meaningful participation by all who attend. If you wish to take an active part in the High Holiday services by offering a reading, music, a poem, or a story, please call Davo Knepler at 488.0241 or Perry Taubman at 455.9569. First-day Rosh Hashanah Services — ‘Erev and Morning, and Kol Nidrei and Yom Kippur services will be held at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center. A Break-the-Fast meal follows the Yom Kippur Ne‘ilah services. Second-day Rosh Hashanah and Tashlich, followed by a potluck lunch, will be at Samuel P. Taylor Park. Childcare is available, and children's services are planned for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings. For schedule details, see our Calendar.
Seating is limited and advance registration is necessary. Please register by September 20.
For Gan HaLev members, seats for all High Holiday Services for all persons in your household are included in membership dues. Membership fees for the 2008..2009 year are $600 for families, and $400 for individuals and single parents. If you're not a member, we encourage you to join now.
For children under 13 years old, all High Holiday Services are free. For an adult non-member, a High Holiday reservation is $275, good for all services. Everyone is welcome, and nobody will be turned away for financial reasons. Please call 488.4524 to make confidential financial arrangements.
