Sides of a Wall

A German-Jewish Story

by Sara Nesson and Katherine Kunz

Reviewed by Miriam Stieglitz

On Sunday, April 29th at the quaint, unimposing San Geronimo Presbyterian Church, I witnessed a most uplifting and inspiring performance called Sides of a Wall — A German-Jewish Story. It was danced, sung and spoken by two women (Sara Nesson and Katherine Kunz), one Jewish, one German, who expressed the effect the Holocaust had on their friendship and their beings. They danced with such sensitivity and clarity. The longing and their conscious intentionality for healing and reconciliation was expressed so sensitively and beautifully. I felt like I was privileged to be a witness to these most intimate details.

This piece is very important and should be seen by as many people as possible. I said I wished I'd known how to get in touch with Steven Spielberg to ask him to help the women perform in in schools and other venues across the country and Europe. Anyone know him?

If you get the chance to, see this piece when advertised: — Sides of a Wall.

Sides of a Wall was presented by Gan HaLev and was made possible by a Faiths Partnership Grant from the Marin Community Foundation. Many thanks to the San Geronimo Valley Presbyterian Church for offering their beautiful sanctuary for this event.
