הַלְלֽוּהוּ Haleluhu, from Psalm 150, is sung in the שַחֲרִת Shakharit Morning Service as part of the פְּסוּקֵי דְזִמְרָה Psuqéi dezimràh Verses of Praise.
In this arrangement of הַלְלֽוּהוּ Haleluhu, each of the sections is a four-voice canon. In the leisurely first section, the voices come in at four-measure intervals in a double canon, the tension mounting as each new voice enters one note higher. Once all four voices have joined in, the piece climaxes with a break to the second section, the voices entering at two-measure intervals to match the new theme's livelier pace.
The small noteheads are only sung on the repetition. Each round can also be sung by itself.
